Ariel's song
Ma-間-
I compose a song using the idea of ‘Ma’ which is fundamentally important of Japanese aesthetics. It refers to the negative space between things. In this case, Ma is silence. There is Japanese traditional thought that gap (or interval) is not nothing but just as full and full of meaning as the sounds that surround it.
’Ma’ relates to not only the sense of time, but also space, body and mind. For example, if your mind is not calm enough, you may take ‘Ma’ too quickly and it will give uncomfortable sensation to your body, then body could move toward to wrong direction, so your body might be placed in the wrong space. Once you loose ‘Ma’, organic harmony will not be found, because organic harmony requires right balance of time, space, body and mind.
